Job Title: Executive Office Assistant / Receptionist

Reporting to: Directly to Corporate Controller & indirectly to VP of Operations

Summary Description:

Responsibilities will include greeting customers, answering & directing phone calls, receiving incoming shipments, tracking purchase orders and assisting Corporate Controller.

Responsibilities and Duties:

All duties are subject to change by managers during employment. The following is an outline and is not intended to be inclusive of all tasks that could be requested of employee.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Assist with keeping inventory for all supplies for office equipment and breakroom.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for executive staff members.
  • Sort all mail-envelopes; distribute mail to individuals internally.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving packages.
  • Help organize company events and lunches.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT

  • Receiving and recording the receipt of customer’s samples.
  • Responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Dealing with correspondence, complaints and queries.
  • Answering customer calls and directing them to appropriate personnel.

FINANCE – ACCOUNTING SUPPORT

  • Assist with management of the finance function and performing accounting task using QuickBooks Pro.
  • Preparation, entry and management of all aspects of P.O’s, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Assist with preparation of financial reports using Excel or other software as required.
  • Assist with collection of accounts receivable on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile billing invoices.

SKILLS REQUIRED AND REQUIREMENT OF THE ROLE INCLUDE

  • Associates degree with at least 5 years’ experience. It is in the hiring manager’s discretion if a candidate has relevant experience or skills to enable him/her to fill this role.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate should be confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgement showing logical decision making, and a hands on approach.
  • The candidate must be computer literate, proficient in using Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Word, Excel) QuickBooks Pro and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Job Title: Research Associate

This individual is a Research Associate who will work with a team of research associates and scientist at AKESOgen. The Research Associate will work under the general direction of a Team Lead. This individual will perform extractions on a variety of sample types, genotyping on Affymetrix and/or Illumina platform equipment maintenance, solution and reagent preparation in addition to other tasks in laboratory. All duties are subject to change by managers during employment. The following is an outline and is not intended to be inclusive of all tasks that could be requested of employee.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • A team player helping to construct, implement, and manage multiple experiments.
  • Operate automated liquid handling platforms for sample processing, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification instruments.
  • Complete projects under guidance of senior lab personnel.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized lab.
  • Document and maintain records systematically such that they can be easily obtained when needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the information before filing.
  • Assist the team leads and scientists in related function.
  • Assist in tracking, stocking and restocking inventory.
  • Understand and follow OSHA, CLIA and CAP guidelines.
  • Maintain instrumentation and the appropriate documentation for each instrument.
  • Demonstrate a high level of ethics in all aspects of professional practice.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the development of research newsletters, presentations, and reports as needed.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical, health or life sciences field required. MS preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in laboratory setting required.
  • Experience with Genotyping on Affymetrix and/or Illumina platform.
  • Previous experience in Nucleic acid extraction is a plus.
  • Excellent practical knowledge about the applications of scientific principles.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot, investigate and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Ability to work well in a group as well as carry out individual assignments.
  • A basic knowledge of good laboratory practices plus analytical and decision-making ability.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and organizational ability required.

Job Title: Histotechnician

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
    • Routine histology
    • Special stains
    • Immunohistochemistry
    • Cytogenetics (FISH)
  • Prepare microscopic slides of human tissue for research/diagnostic purposes; includes fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include both paraffin processed tissue and frozen sectioning.
  • Specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized data entry and ensure quality control procedures are implemented throughout the sample workflow.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications.
  • Enforce proper chemical and biological hygiene practices to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Perform chemical waste disposal according to laboratory policy in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain instrumentation and the appropriate documentation for each instrument and assay in the department, including regular maintenance.
  • Demonstrate a high level of ethics in all aspects of professional practice.
  • Document and maintain records systematically such that they can be easily obtained when needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the information before filing and reporting.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab.
  • Comply with quality control policy and procedures to ensure all aspects of the laboratory operation are performed in accordance with accepted standards and applicable laws.
  • Understand and follow OSHA, CLIA and CAP guidelines.
  • Experience with assay validation and related reporting and SOP development.
  • Experience with the following platforms – Ventana Benchmark, Dako Autostainer, Leica Bond, and Aperio Scan Scope – preferred.
  • Experience with Clinical Trials a plus.

Required Skills and Education:

  • BS degree in biological sciences with at least three years’ experience in a pathology laboratory or AS degree with relevant experience. It is in the hiring manager’s discretion if a candidate has relevant experience or skills to enable him/her to fill this role.
  • HT/HTL (ASCP) required
  • Excellent analytical abilities and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent practical knowledge about the applications of scientific principles.
  • Ability to spot mistakes in procedures and report them to supervisor/ attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a group as well as carry out individual assignments.
  • Proficient in computer and internet application skills required for the job.
  • Familiar with CLIA and CAP guidelines, great attention to detail.
  • Ability to focus for long periods on a task, able to lift 25lbs, and willingness to learn.
